State Council Tariff and Tax Commission on the Origin of Announcement of the Suspens

During the G-20 leaders Buenos Aires Summit, President Xi Jinping was invited to meet with President Trump of the United States and reached important consensus on Sino-US economic and trade issues. In order to implement the consensus of the two heads of state, in accordance with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China on Foreign Trade, the Import and Export Tariff Regulations of the People's Republic of China and the basic principles of international law, the Tariff Principles Committee of the State Council decided to suspend the imposition of tariffs on automobiles and parts originating in the United States for three months, covering 211 tax items. Relevant matters are as follows:


From January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2019, the State Council Tariff Commission's Notice on Tariffs on Imports Originating in the United States of America of US$50 billion imposed a 25% tariff on 28 items listed in Annex 1, and the State Council Tariff Commission's Notice on Imports Originating in the United States of America of 116 items listed in Annex 2. Tariffs on imported goods of about US$16 billion (Tax Commission Announcement No. 7, 2018) are increased by 25%; Tariffs on 67 items listed in Annex 3 are suspended; Tariffs on imported goods originating in US$60 billion are imposed by the State Council Tariffs Commission (Tax Commission Announcement No. 8, 2018) are increased by 5%, with specific commodity standards.
